4R75E / 4R75W Transmission Lock Up Solenoid Valve
Most Commonly Called Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid ( TCC / T.C.C. )
This Solenoid Version Fits That Our Industry Calls A Hard Wire Internal Harness Design.
This is a black hard plastic housing with a couple small/tiny resistors built into it.
The exposed spades on the connector of this solenoid mate directly to that black plastic harness.
These spades allow energizing of the solenoid to open it, grounding it closes the valve.
When fluid passes through this it applies the lock up clutch, typically at higher more consistant highway speeds.
The converters primary function is dampening the power coming from the engine and allowing it to be applied as most needed.

These are quite common to fail now that these transmission have 10 years or more on the road.
Normally the check engine light will come on, and store a code such as P1740 for the tcc solenoid failure.
There is a wide range of possible failure / fault codes that may be present when this fails but normally 1 or 2 common ones.
We hope to add more specific details about these codes as we aquire additional information.
Access to this solenoid can be reach by removing the transmission pan and loosening of the hard wire harness.
This solenoid is mounted on the bottom face of the valve body and retained by one bolt.
Pan gaskets on these are widely reuseable; confirm by checking to see if it's steel reinforced core with bonded poly/plastic to it.
Generally a filter kit is needed for this repair, but a filter only may be adequate if your gasket is still good.

Normally the pan will be stamped with the large word " Metric "
If you encounter a rubber plug in the pan this is normal, its from the factory when unit was filled with atf / fluid.
