A500 / 42RH / 42RE / 44RE Automatic Transmission Applications
This part is often referred to by the industry as a "Top Hat" or spring retainer.
The Sonnax upgrade was created due to the high failure of the original OEM design.
The OEM design is thin and has a tendancy to crack.
This allows the boost valve and spring to fall out of position,
which will cause a leak in 4th gear and TCC fluid pressure loss.
This design is made of steel for greater durabillity and will not crack or break.
