"RE" 3-4 Accumulator Spring
This design is .126" Thick

Fits Numerous Dodge / Jeep / Chrysler Models

A500 / 42RH / 42RE / 42-RE / 44RE / 44-RE
A518 / 46RH / 46RE / 46-RE
A618 / 47RH / 47RE / 47-RE
48RE / 48-RE

This was created due to the high failure of the original OEM design.
About 60%-70% of the factory springs were .063" thick spring stock.

Extremely common for these to become worn out even on moderate mileage units.
Most models that completely lose overdrive have a broken spring.
Many of our shift kits also feature an upgraded spring in them as well.

Symptoms this may fix:
Intermittent loss of overdrive
No third to 4th shift
Many Other Various Symptoms

This is suggested to be replacemed every 50,000 miles during fluid service , and band adjustment.

(this is included in our various solenoid service kits)

Easy Fix
Charles D (York , ME) 8/15/2014 1:37 AM
Cascade support told me in an email response that I may have a broken Accumulator Spring and to be sure to check on it while doing a solenoid upgrade. I did and yes...my Accumulator Spring was snapped in half!! Transmission is 100%, shifts great and even the banging and lurching under acceleration going uphill is now gone!! Thank You for helping us DIY customers.

I bought the whole pan kit for my truck, and thanks because I never would have found the broken spring just replacing the solenoids alone.
